Brent Boland

Brent Borland was the subject of a 2018 United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) civil complaint regarding a fraudulent investment scheme. The SEC alleged that between 2014 and 2017, Borland and his entities, Borland Capital Group and Belize Infrastructure Fund I, raised $21.9 million through promissory notes for a Belize airport project. Borland misappropriated at least $5.98 million of these funds to pay for personal expenses, including a luxury home, tuition, and vehicles, while falsely claiming the notes were secured by valuable real estate. Additionally, the Ontario Securities Commission initiated an action against Borland in 2011 involving unregistered securities, which resulted in his being barred from serving as an officer or director for entities under its jurisdiction.
