Caroline Cayeux

Caroline Cayeux, former French Minister Delegate for Local Authorities (July–November 2022), resigned in November 2022 following a referral to the public prosecutor by the High Authority for the Transparency of Public Life (HATVP) regarding her asset declarations. The HATVP identified significant undervaluations of her assets, specifically a Paris apartment and a property in Ille-et-Vilaine, totaling an 11.7 million euro discrepancy. On April 1, 2026, a Paris court sentenced Cayeux to 10 months of suspended prison, a 100,000 euro fine, and two years of ineligibility following a guilty plea procedure for tax fraud and filing a false asset declaration. Additionally, in 2022, Cayeux faced public controversy for past comments regarding same-sex marriage, which she apologized for after they were criticized as homophobic.
