Christopher Flanagan

State Representative Christopher Flanagan (D-Dennis) is currently facing federal criminal charges and a prior state-level ethics resolution. In 2024, the Massachusetts Office of Campaign and Political Finance fined Flanagan and his campaign $15,000 for campaign finance violations. Investigators found he created a fictitious person, "Jeanne Louise," to conceal his role in paying for a 2022 campaign mailer. In April 2025, Flanagan was indicted on federal charges, which were superseded in May 2026. He faces eight counts of wire fraud, one count of money laundering, one count of falsification of records, and three counts of filing false tax returns. Prosecutors allege he misappropriated over $43,000 from his former employer, the Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Cape Cod, to cover personal debts, psychic services, and household items. He also allegedly laundered $10,000 of these funds into his campaign account and lied to state regulators. Flanagan has pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial; the House Committee on Ethics plans to conduct an investigation following the conclusion of judicial proceedings.
