Daryl Maguire served as the Liberal Member for Wagga Wagga from 1999 to 2018. Following a series of corruption inquiries, the New South Wales Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) found in 2023 that he engaged in serious corrupt conduct between 2012 and 2018. This included misusing his parliamentary office to benefit his private company, G8wayInternational, and profiting from an immigration scheme targeting his constituents. In 2025, Maguire was found guilty of giving false or misleading evidence to an ICAC inquiry, though this conviction was overturned on appeal in March 2026. He is currently facing trial for alleged conspiracy related to a fraudulent visa scheme.
