Eddie Andrews has been the subject of several ethics and legal disputes during his career. In April 2023, the Iowa Ethics and Campaign Disclosure Board fined Andrews $250 and issued a formal reprimand for distributing 2022 campaign materials that failed to include required legal attribution statements. In a separate 2023 complaint, the board vacated a $500 fine but maintained an official reprimand against Andrews, citing his campaign's failure to cooperate with the investigation. In the 2000s, Andrews was the defendant in a consumer fraud probe by the Iowa Attorney General’s Office involving his former company, DotNow, which faced over 200 complaints. The Iowa Court of Appeals ruled against him regarding his business practices in that matter. Records indicate he has been a defendant in more than five dozen court cases in Iowa involving issues ranging from traffic violations to business practices. During his 2020 campaign, he faced controversy for attending an event that featured a Confederate flag. In March 2026, Andrews’ qualification for the gubernatorial primary ballot was challenged over petition signature requirements. While he claimed binders containing signatures had gone missing from his vehicle, he did not file a police report regarding the incident. The status of that ballot challenge involved a review of signature counts by a state panel.
