Keir Starmer, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from July 2024 until his resignation in June 2026, faced several controversies and allegations during his term. The primary focus of these concerns was the appointment of Peter Mandelson as UK ambassador to the United States. Mandelson, who was appointed in December 2024 and sacked in September 2025, was later revealed to have had significant personal ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, as well as a failed security background check. Starmer faced accusations that he misled Parliament regarding whether full due process was followed during Mandelson's vetting and whether he or his office applied pressure to civil servants to finalize the appointment.
