Lori Chavez-DeRemer

Lori Chavez-DeRemer served as U.S. Secretary of Labor from March 2025 until her resignation on April 20, 2026. Her tenure was marked by an extensive Department of Labor Office of Inspector General investigation into allegations of travel fraud, misuse of taxpayer funds, workplace alcohol consumption, and an inappropriate romantic relationship with a subordinate on her security detail. Additional controversies included allegations that her husband, Shawn DeRemer, inappropriately touched female staffers, leading to his ban from agency headquarters in February 2026. While sexual assault investigations against him were opened, police and prosecutors closed them without charges, citing a lack of evidence. Chavez-DeRemer also faced three civil rights complaints and accusations of fostering a toxic work environment and pressuring staff regarding grant distributions. She has denied all allegations, attributing them to deep state actors.
