Mariannette Miller-Meeks

Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks has been subject to ethics complaints and public criticism regarding financial disclosures and residency, but she has not been convicted of or charged with criminal offenses. In 2021, Iowa Democrats filed an ethics complaint alleging she failed to properly disclose various sources of income and assets in her 2020 financial reports. Her office stated she worked with the House Ethics Committee to resolve discrepancies and file amendments. In 2024, a resident filed an ethics complaint alleging Miller-Meeks violated state voting laws by registering in Scott County while primarily residing at her family home in Wapello County. Her campaign has called these allegations frivolous, maintaining her residency in Davenport. Separately, Miller-Meeks faced criticism for renting a D.C. apartment from pharmaceutical lobbyists while serving on health subcommittees and using taxpayer-funded office reimbursements for the rent. Additionally, her campaign mistakenly issued a $3,500 payment to her son, which was later corrected through an amended filing after the funds were returned.
