Nadine Arslanian Menendez was convicted on April 21, 2025, on 15 counts, including conspiracy to commit bribery, honest services fraud, extortion, and obstruction of justice. Prosecutors demonstrated that between 2018 and 2022, she and her husband, former Senator Robert Menendez, accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes—including gold bars, cash, and a luxury vehicle—from businessmen Wael Hana, Jose Uribe, and Fred Daibes in exchange for official political acts benefiting the Egyptian and Qatari governments and the associates’ legal interests. In September 2026, she was sentenced to 54 months in prison, three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay $922,188.10 in forfeiture. Additionally, in December 2018, she was involved in a fatal automobile accident in Bogota, New Jersey; she was not charged in that incident, which resulted in a financial settlement for the victim's family.
