Nadine Menendez was convicted on April 21, 2025, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit bribery, honest services wire fraud, extortion under color of official right, and obstruction of justice. The charges stemmed from a multi-year corruption scheme where she and her husband, former Senator Robert Menendez, accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash, gold bars, and a luxury vehicle in exchange for the Senator’s political influence to benefit Egyptian interests and various New Jersey associates. On September 11, 2025, she was sentenced to 54 months in prison, three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay $922,188.10 in forfeiture.
