Kweon Seong-dong, a five-term South Korean lawmaker and former floor leader of the People Power Party, was convicted of violating the Political Funds Act. On July 16, 2026, the Supreme Court finalized a two-year prison sentence and a 100 million won forfeiture, stripping him of his parliamentary seat. The conviction stems from his acceptance of 100 million won from a Unification Church official in January 2022 in exchange for political favors.
