Saleh Mamman, Nigeria’s Minister of Power from 2019 to 2021, was convicted of money laundering and fraud involving 33.8 billion naira designated for the Mambilla and Zungeru hydroelectric power projects. In May 2026, a Federal High Court in Abuja sentenced him to 75 years imprisonment, to be served consecutively, after finding him guilty on 12 counts. The court also ordered him to refund 22 billion naira and forfeit multiple Abuja properties. Mamman was arrested in Kaduna shortly after his conviction in absentia and was subsequently transferred to Kuje prison.
