Stephen Goldfinch

Stephen Goldfinch has faced two primary legal controversies during his career. In 2013, federal prosecutors in the Southern District of Texas filed a criminal information charging Goldfinch with one count of introducing misbranded drugs into interstate commerce related to his former company, Caledonia Consulting Inc. The company was involved in the distribution of stem cells, and prosecutors alleged they were sold without proper FDA approval. Goldfinch publicly stated he would plead guilty, citing his responsibility as a business owner for the actions of a contractor, Vincent Dammai. However, the case remained dormant for four years without an indictment, hearing, or arrest. In December 2017, the Department of Justice moved to dismiss the case, citing the destruction of evidence by the FDA and the unavailability of witnesses. The motion was granted, and the case was dismissed. In 2013, Goldfinch was also named as a defendant in a federal civil lawsuit filed by a former business partner, William Kenon, involving a treasure-hunting venture. The complaint alleged that Goldfinch attempted to use his influence as a state legislator to secure permits and engaged in extortion by threatening to use his office to harm Kenon if he did not pay.
