Stephen 'Stat' Smith

Stephen Stat Smith, a former member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, was involved in a voter fraud scheme regarding the 2009 and 2010 elections. On December 20, 2012, Smith agreed to plead guilty to two misdemeanor counts of deprivation of rights under color of law for submitting fraudulent absentee ballots, including casting ballots for ineligible or unaware voters. He resigned from office effective January 1, 2013. In April 2013, he was sentenced to four months in federal prison, ordered to pay a $20,000 fine, and barred from holding public office for five years.
