Tan Sri Mohd Isa Samad

Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad, a former Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar and Felda chairman, has faced two major categories of controversy. In 2004, he was found guilty of money politics by the UMNO Disciplinary Board for organizing meetings and providing money to buy votes during the UMNO General Assembly. His membership was suspended for three years, and he resigned as Minister of Federal Territories in 2005. In 2018, he was charged with nine counts of corruption under the MACC Act 2009 for receiving RM3.09 million in bribes to approve Felda Investment Corporation’s RM160 million purchase of the Merdeka Palace Hotel & Suites. Though initially convicted and sentenced to six years imprisonment and a RM15.45 million fine in 2021, he was acquitted by the Court of Appeal in 2024. The Federal Court subsequently overturned this acquittal on February 10, 2026, reinstating his six-year prison term and fine. A further review application was dismissed on June 26, 2026, and he is currently serving his sentence at Sungai Buloh Prison.
