Tina Kotek

There have been no criminal indictments, charges, convictions, or proven instances of corruption, bribery, or financial fraud against Governor Tina Kotek. Her administration has faced ethics inquiries and a court ruling regarding her executive authority. In 2024, the Oregon Government Ethics Commission reviewed complaints regarding the potential misuse of state resources related to the governor’s office providing office space, staff, and protection for First Lady Aimee Kotek Wilson. The commission deadlocked 4-4, resulting in a dismissal of the investigation, as commissioners found no evidence of legal wrongdoing. Kotek subsequently abandoned plans to create an official Office of the First Spouse. Separately, state auditors identified approximately $11,000 in spending by the governor’s office on employee catering, concert tickets, and parking reimbursements that potentially conflicted with state ethics policies. Following a review, the Oregon Government Ethics Commission closed this matter in May 2025, concluding that the expenditures did not rise to the level of enforceable violations and issuing no penalties or findings of wrongdoing. In March 2026, a Marion County judge ruled that Executive Order 24-31, which mandated the use of union labor on certain state construction projects, was unconstitutional. The court found that the directive overstepped the governor’s executive authority and infringed upon the legislative branch's power to make law.
