Wang Lixia, former chair of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and member of the 20th Central Committee, is currently facing criminal prosecution for bribery. Following an investigation by the National Supervisory Commission initiated in August 2025, she was expelled from the Communist Party of China and removed from public office in February 2026 for severe violations of party discipline and law.
Official charges allege that Wang abused her positions in Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia to secure project approvals, construction contracts, and personnel promotions for others in exchange for massive sums of money and gifts. Authorities also cited ethical and disciplinary violations, including frequenting private clubs, improper acceptance of banquets and travel, interference in judicial activities, and failure to properly supervise her family. In June 2026, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate finalized her arrest, and the Daqing Intermediate People's Court is currently processing her case.
