William Creeden

William Creeden, the former international secretary-treasurer of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, was convicted in June 2026 by a federal jury on multiple felony counts related to a $20 million embezzlement and racketeering scheme. Following his August 2024 indictment, Creeden was found guilty of one count of racketeering conspiracy, 23 counts of embezzlement from a labor organization, three counts of theft in connection with health care, one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud, one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and one count of theft from an employee retirement plan. Prosecutors established that Creeden and other union leaders misappropriated union funds for no-show jobs, luxury international travel, fine dining, unauthorized loans, and personal expenses. He was also specifically implicated in a wire fraud scheme involving his acceptance of no-show employment with the Bank of Labor, which paid him millions in salary and benefits. Creeden’s sentencing was scheduled for September 1, 2026.
