Xavier Becerra

Xavier Becerra has not been charged with, indicted for, or convicted of any crime. He has not resigned from office due to misconduct nor been found liable for financial fraud. A federal corruption investigation into his dormant campaign account, which concluded in 2026, resulted in guilty pleas from three associates—Dana Williamson, Sean McCluskie, and Greg Campbell—for siphoning approximately $225,000 from the account. Federal prosecutors and indictments identified Becerra only as a victim, stating he was misled by his aides regarding the nature of the payments. Separately, during his 2001 Los Angeles mayoral campaign, an investigation by the district attorney’s office found that a firm used by his campaign sent unauthorized, incendiary robocalls. Prosecutors concluded that no crime was committed, and Becerra denied authorizing or having knowledge of the calls.
