Boris Johnson resigns from Parliament over Partygate

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson resigned July 2022 amid the Partygate scandal over illegal No. 10 Downing Street gatherings during Covid lockdowns. In June 2023 the Commons Privileges Committee found he had deliberately misled Parliament; he resigned his seat before suspension.
